Hangin' around town

Jesse and I like to walk a lot of place so we get to know the city a bit more and we always end up walking back through the botanical gardens to our house. It's the prettiest way to go by far! Here are some pics of us messing around in the gardens, our favorite place. It's very interesting because we can go there with our camera and still find new places to take pictures that we haven't found before.

Chinese New Year

Jesse had last Thursday thru Sunday off of work due to public holiday, Chinese New Year. We were late planners so didn't get to leave Singapore so instead we made the best of our time here and mostly hung out with each other and our friends. Our friend Phil (who works for the same company as Jesse) had a bbq which we went to and had a great time. Some of the pics are of our friends here in Singapore. You may remember Brian and Manjula (pic 1) from our wedding back in 2009 and there's Derrick and Janelle our new rock climbing buddies. The top pictures are of Jesse and I making our version of stuffed peppers one night. They turned out fabulous and delicious!! Sometimes we really surprise ourselves with the cooking.

Rock Climbing

Surprisingly there is outdoor climbing here in Singapore. We were really excited to know about this place called Bukit Timah Nature Reserve. There are about 50 different routes to climb so we have been hanging out there with our friends. In the pictures are our friends Janelle and Derrick, also chiropractors only working for a different company. This place is pretty neat and very much in the jungle. As you can see from some of the pictures there are monitor lizards and monkeys hanging around in the trees. We also saw some neat looking birds with red and blue feathers and yellow mohawks. Not sure what they were but they were exotic looking and awesome. This is another fun, free activity we do on the weekends to keep ourselves busy and to get outdoors time. We pack a lunch, take a short bus ride up north and hang out for the day. Another reason why Singapore is such a great Republic and we are having such a great time living here.

Eating our way through Botanical Gardens

Jesse and I live about a ten minute walk away from the Botanical Gardens and spend quite a bit of time jogging and reading there. I decided it would be a fabulous idea for us to have a picnic in the park and then Jesse suggested we take a gazebo tour and eat each different part of our picnic in a different gazebo. Although it was raining pretty much the whole time we had a really great evening in the park. It's really nice for us to have such a beautiful (free) outlet so close. This is one of the things we will be doing more of in the future when the rainy season ends. We are even trying to get our friends on board to come with too!

Our menu for the night was this:

Deviled Eggs (san paprika, i didn't have any and Jesse almost refused to eat them)

Smoked ham sandwiches with mayo, mustard, lettuce and tomato, some people have mistaken this delicious looking sandwich as a taco from the picture.

Fruit salad with fresh Korean strawberries, Malaysian grapes, bananas, plums. (this was my fav)

Dessert from our favorite corner shop. Apple tart, Jesse's pick. It was delicious.

P.S. Sorry for the late posting, I've had lack of material but i'm totally on it now and I won't go that long again.
