Yosemite

This is an old post that didn't get published because I could never get the darn pictures to upload.

Jesse and I arrived in SF on Tuesday morning and hung out at "The Oasis," all day long lounging by the pool in the warm summer East Bay sun. On a whim we decided with our good friend Justin we needed to make a spur of the moment trip to Yosemite. I had never been to the park before and last time we tried to go it was burning down with wild fires, which were started by people throwing their cigs out their car windows, so I was all for the trip.

I cannot even begin to describe how amazing this park is. There are magnificent rock formations, beautiful raging waterfalls, amazing rock climbing and just the overall beauty is something the mind cannot create with it's own imagination. We spent the day rock climbing (with our new gear, thanks Jeff P.), and we hiked to a waterfall and then watched the sunset sparkle off of El Capitan. We even picked out a few climbers on the mountain and watched their progress on the huge face.

After our epic day in the park we went to California's oldest saloon called The Iron Door. It was kinda overrated, but good beer nonetheless.

More contestants

Here are the rest of the contestants, excluding Petra, she just looked super cute in this pic. I am wondering what she thought of all of the weird facial hair that weekend.

Mustache Run 2010 (aka Bix 7)

So here are the contestants pics from Mustache Run 2010. The other pics will be on the next post. Thanks to everyone who participated. Those who have a difficult time growing staches should start NOW so you can enter the contest next year.

Summer Recap

Jesse and I haven't been very diligent about keeping our blog this summer but we have big plans for the next year and this is a great time to start up again. On Aug 3rd at 1:20 a.m. we will be on a flight from San Francisco to Hong Kong then after a little layover in Hong Kong we are flying to Jakarta, Indonesia. We will be there for a while. We are really excited about our next adventure and this is why we have decided to continue with our blog so we can keep everyone updated. Unfortunately, the spacevan/ the Oyster won't be able to come with us this time but to keep it lively we are sticking with the same blog name FOREVER!

As for this past summer (which flew by), we were living in Erie, Illinois at the "Tree Frog Kingdom" with the famous Gail K, who was so gracious to share his home with his middle daughter and son-in-law. Jesse was doing some landscaping with Timm Construction and I was working as Damel's assistant at Salon Luce. Here is a list of some of the cool things we did during June and July.

At the beginning of June there was a family reunion for the Owens family at Tablerock Lake in Missour. The second weekend of June, Jesse went on a man weekend with his dad, brothers, and the Cousin boys. That same weekend he met me in Minneapolis for our one year anniversary. We celebrated like rock stars. Then we stayed in Davenport for a few weekends and around the middle of July we went to Minnesota again to spend time with Kelli, Bruce and family. There we did lots of fun things including the now popular "Dickstock." Dickstock is the fastest growing music festival in all of Minnesota. Everyone should be sure not to miss it next year, although it may have a different name such as, Cornstock or Beanstock. We also went to a Twins game at the new stadium with Kelli and Bruce which was AMAZING!!! Everyone should visit their new stadium. Then we made our way back to Davenport for the annual Bix 7 run. The race was renamed by family as Mustache Run 2010. All of the boys grew mustaches and some even went to the extreme of perming their hair and cutting it into a curly mullet. That person obviously won the contest. We also spent a lot of time with our friends and family including, Cody, Wyatt and Don, Keith, Carolyn and Taylor, Damel, Craig, Perry, Pierce, Holly, Jay and Sam. And of course about every weekend we had to go see Gene at Front Street. He was always working.

That's a short summer recap. I hope it was detailed enough. The pics are randoms from the summer and I will be adding more on the next post.
