Good Quality Fun

i have no excuse for my negligence of this blog. For those of you who follow, my apologies, I will be better at this.

Jesse and I have been living in Guaymas now for about 2 months and have taken to the relaxed pace of Mexico. Not so relaxed that it takes us forever to do things but relaxed enough that we don't feel exhausted and rushed at everything we do. Jesse has been in his office now for 2 weeks and things are really going well. He has really been keeping busy. I have been doing the usual, reading books in a hammock or on the beach, running daily, practicing music. Pretty much all of the things that I have missed out on by working the past few years. It's pretty nice when all you have is time.

We have been spending most of our free time hanging out with our friends. Mostly, Vladimir, from Bulgaria. He is the one in the picture lighting the old, dry Christmas tree on fire and in the group picture he is the one Jesse is tickling. These are the quality things we do to entertain ourselves here in Mexico. We have also been hanging out with our neighbor Pedro and his friends a lot, and going to the occasional Wednesday night poker night. All in all, we are having no problem entertaining ourselves and are really enjoying our time here in Guaymas/San Carlos, Sonora, Mexico.

While in Minnesota, we also got to spend quite a bit of time with Jesse's mom, Kelli. We watched some movies, ate delicious brownies, went to the Mystic Lake Casino, and overall got some good quality time with Kelli.

Keith Time.

So we just got back to Guaymas, Mexico after a fun filled trip to Iowa/Illinois and Minnesota. We spent about 5 days in Minnesota for the festivities involving the celebration of Grandma Dorothy's life. It was really nice because all of Jesse's siblings made the journey back and it is hard to get all of them together in the same place often. It is also nice to get together with aunts, uncles and cousins. The services celebrating Dorothy were beautiful and Jesse and I are grateful to have been there. Even though it never was warmer than 20, it was still great to see everyone.

We also got to spend some good quality time with Carolyn, Keith and Taylor. Among the already planned festivities that took place we enjoyed a nice family gathering at Scott and Linda's. They have the perfect place for entertaining. And they have a pool table so we participated in a pool tourney. Good fun in Minnesota.

Quad Cities

After a ride with our new Canadian friend, a bus trip, a plane ride, a taxi cab ride into downtown Chicago, and finally a train ride and a short car ride, we arrived at our destination in Erie, Illinois.

Our travels have brought us back to the U.S. for just a short week to visit family and celebrate the life of Grandma Dorothy Timm. We got the news that she had passed and immediately decided we would come back to the states to be with family and friends. We are only here for a week, but we are grateful for that. As most of you may know we are from the midwest so we decided to stop in the Quad Cities first then go to Minnesota to the funeral services. The temperature is very nice at around 23 degrees F. And it won't stop snowing. We are totally ok with this because we get to go back to sunny, beachy Mexico.

Guaymas/San Carlos

So Jesse and I have retraced some of our steps and are now in Guaymas, Sonora, MX, which is where Grandma Marcia and Paul live. We decided to regress this way because Jesse has an opportunity to work with a doctor in San Carlos and start a chiropractic clinic of his own. We have been here for about a week and a half now and things are going really great. Jesse has already started taking patients (house calls) and the office will be ready February 1. We are very excited and grateful for this opportunity. The doctor Jesse is working with has made some pretty remarkable progress with natural cancer treatments (not chemo). His name is Dr. David Walker and if you google him you can learn more about who he is and what he is doing.

Our days consist waking early then working out a bit, eating, then maybe working our later, reading, sitting on the beach, you know those sort of things. We decided to try riding Marcia and Paul's bikes to San Carlos from Guaymas (about 30 miles round trip) and that was a success. We probably won't ever do it again but it was still a great time. Last weekend we went hiking with our friend Pedro behind out houses. When we got to the top there was a Mexican flag and the view was spectacular. The scenery here is very beautiful and there is no shortage of hiking trails and other outdoor activities. We are waiting for the water to warm up a bit so we can start swimming daily.
